I have created this workbook for my homeschooled children because I could find no spelling workbooks of which I approved well for the kindergarten level. After trying workbooks I did not like to homeschool my older child, I decided that for the current child, I needed something top notch. I have spent much time creating this. I hope it helps others looking for a top notch Kindergarten spelling workbook which is at the correct level for the children's reading and spelling skills and growth.
Maria Montessori recommended tracing inside the letters instead of following dotted lines because it is more naturally easy for children. With the Montessori sandpaper letters, there is a circle to indicate where to begin tracing the sandpaper mounted on wood. I highly recommend having the child use sandpaper letters and tracing in the colored sand first. I also recommend the Montessori movable type and the Montessori 3-D Objects Pink Reading activities. They will accompany this workbook well.
I have created a spelling workbook which will take the child from sandpaper letters with dots, to a workbook with dots. The dots in this workbook will help the child to know where to start when tracing the letters. The teacher or parent will be needed to guide the child(ren) to correctly do the handwriting.
I have created this workbook with pink colors because these are Montessori pink reading words. The child can trace inside the lines for both the spelling word and the example sentence. The illustrations help the child to understand the word. The sentences are very simple with easy words.
I encourage teacher or parent to have the child sound out the word and sentences. If the child struggles, please help the child by telling the child what it says.
I am currently working on workbooks similar to this one for the other vowels. I will be creating short e, short i, short o, short u spelling workbooks.
