### Description

update: I added a set of cards with squares on them for 1-to-1 correspondence. The squares are for 2x2 stud bricks.

**********

Montessori inspired activity using Lego bricks to count from 1 to 10. Teaches counting, introduces the concept of even and odd numbers.

There are three different card types in this file to be used with 55 Lego® bricks (control of error). Please use only one color of the bricks if possible:

• for placing bricks under the cards
• for placing bricks on the cards
• for placing bricks on the cards with 1-to-1 correspondence

Print out, laminate and cut out. Prepare a basket (or another container) with cards and bricks. Present a lesson.

### Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Understand that each successive number name refers to a quantity that is one larger.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
