Enhance students mathematical skills and concepts with these monthly Number of the Day Books.
I used these books daily to enhance students mathematical skills of concepts that I have taught. The monthly covers for the books can be printed with colored ink on cardstock. I just used a plain white piece of cardstock for the back cover.
You must decide which number of the day sheet you will use for each month, I have made three to choose from. At the beginning of the school year, or if you are teaching younger or special education students you may want to use the first or second form to begin with. Once you have taught the concepts you can change to the third form which is more difficult.
Copy how many sheets you will need for that particular month and then either staple or bind the book together with the front and back covers. I made these books before school started so I would have them all ready to go each month.
In my classroom my student of the week was in charge of this book each day., and filled it out when he/she first came into class. They would choose one helper each day of the week to help them fill out the book with the correct answers. The number of the day is the date on the calendar, so if today’s date is September 12th, the number of the day is 12
The student must fill out the number of the day chart using this number, I have included examples of each page at the end of this resource. During math time I would put the chart up on the document camera and the student of the week with his/her assistant would explain their answers. If there were any problems we would correct them immediately. Students were given direct instruction and were responsible for teaching their classmates these skills.
It was amazing how this simple book taught and reinforced so many mathematical concepts for my students!
