20 minutes of reading each night doesn’t seem to much to ask.. Does it?
These past few years I’ve discovered that people are BUSY
and carting kids around can take way more time than it should. The last thing
anyone wants to do at the end of a busy, long day is to sit their child down and get them to read for 20 minutes. For those eager readers, this is easy and enjoyable, but we all know that all students are not eager readers. It can sometimes feel like pulling teeth
getting those reluctant readers to read!
Ultimately, I just want my students reading
, and forcing them to read for 20 minutes at a time will not get them to love reading
This reading log sets a goal for 80 minutes of reading per week, which would equal 20 minutes of reading each day Monday – Thursday. It also allows for flexibility
for those nights when reading 20 minutes is just not going to happen
I also include suggestions
for ways to get to 20 minutes of reading per day.
