This very simple worksheet is designed as an assessment task for my students. They need to write the correct months for the seasons into the spaces around the edge of the wheel.
The spaces for each season allow for differentiated assessment since it is open-ended. The simplest response is to draw a symbol or choose a colour for each season.
The next level up would be to write the typical weather and a favourite activity into each section.
The extension activity is to write special days that occur in each season (eg Christmas, Easter, the local show, start of school, the student's birthday etc).
This will help to determine if my Year 2 students are meeting the standard for Mathematics in the new Australian Curriculum, but since the months can be written into any spaces on the wheel, it should also be useful for those in the northern hemisphere as well!
Maybe you could do one for the southern hemisphere and one for the northern hemisphere to extend students' thinking even further!
