In this assignment (alternative assessment) students can construct their own monument to four nationalists of Latin America. Student options include Toussaint L'ouverature (Haiti), Simon Bolivar (Venezuela, Columbia, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia), San Martin (Argentina, Ecuador, Peru), Miguel Hidalgo (Mexico), Augustine de Itirbide and or Dom Pedro (Brazil).
Students will have to justify who made their monument with 4-5 bullet points on a plaque below each person.
Kit includes Mountainside Template with title, portraits of each leader, plaque place and rubric with examples.
This assignment or mini project calls on students to: Investigate, assess, create, design, connect, argue, apply concepts, synthesize, critique and or prove that their chosen nationalists were instrumental in the nationalists/independence movements of their countries.
