Description
Mood Craftivity: Here's a hands-on, creative way for your students to practice identifying the mood of a piece of writing! After completing this activity, students will likely remember what it means to identify the mood of a reading passage.
PRINTABLE CRAFTIVITY VERSION: Students begin by reading seven short passages. After reading each passage, they identify which word best represents the author's mood from the mood ring code sheet. Once students have identified the mood for each passage, they begin assembling their craftivity. Student-friendly directions are included so that you can place the directions under your document camera, and students can refer to them as they complete the project. (An answer key is also included.)
The finished products make a unique bulletin board or fun school hallway display! It can also be used as a novel entry in an interactive notebook!
TPT DIGITAL EASEL VERSION: This is a paperless version that can be completed on a device. It consists of eight slides. The first slide contains the directions, and the seven slides that follow each feature one passage. Students read the passage and identify which word best represents the author's mood. Answer choices are provided on the mood ring images. Students select their answer by moving the matching ring into the answer box.
