Oftentimes identifying the mood of a text will help students identify a more accurate main idea of a section (particularly for fiction texts). This lesson is meant to be administered AFTER learning about main idea as an extension or challenge. But as I said before, sometimes students are able to identify the main idea with the help of mood. The lesson is meant to be used with an anchor text of choice, so you will have to make minor adjustments to the paragraph numbers. The third page is an exit ticket (assessment) which can be used at the end of the lesson. If you are looking for a mood power point (which guides students through learning how to identify mood), check out my store and look for the power point titled "Identifying Mood."
