Using this modern and technology oriented exit slip, students can identify and explain the mood or tone of the literature being reviewed in class.
Students will identify the mood/tone by choosing a generic emoji. The real assessment of understanding comes from the explanation. Why is this the mood? What word or words would you use to describe this tone? Why is this the tone?
For differentiation/higher level of thinking you can request they add textual examples to support their reasoning. Students will find this activity "fun" simply because it uses emojis.
The format of this activity is 4 to a sheet, exit slip style (quick and easy). One sheet has mood and one sheet has tone.
