Teachers: This is an at home project while doing a unit on the phases of the moon. After I decide on the dates and fix the calendar accordingly, I color in the top row of moons to show what each phase of the moon looks like. This can go along with a solar system unit. It can also be related to common core standards by reading informational texts about the moon and also noticing any patterns they see during their observations. You can also extend this project for longer than the 10 days I use if for. I also look ahead on-line at an upcoming moon calendar to make sure the timing is good when assigning it.
