Multiple uses for this product! After teaching the moon phases, have the students practice the moon phase cycle by playing this game independently, with partners, or with their family at home. This product can be used as a game, at stations, for review, and more! (Eco-friendly: multiple copies per page.)
To play independently: shuffle the moon phases and place them face down in a pile. Draw a moon phase and try to place it in the correct place on the game board. After all moon phases are placed on the game board, use the answer sheet to check your work. If you made a mistake, shuffle up and replay!
To play with a partner: each partner should have their own moon phase game board and set of moon phases. Place the moon phases face down in a pile. Say "ready, set, go" and race to see who can put their moon phases in the correct order the fastest.
To use as an assessment: A second set of the moon phase organizer is included without the word "game board" so you can use it as a formative, quiz, or test. Make the assignment easier by allowing the students to glue the moon phase pieces onto the correct spot or make it more challenging by asking the students to draw in and label the moon phases.
Storage: Fold the game board and keep all pieces in a small snack zip-lock bag. It helps for students to write their names on the bag in permanent marker.
My students always enjoy this activity. I hope yours do too!
