I love teaching science (as you probably know), and the Moon Unit is always fun!
This is a complete lesson, with group activities, individual activities and an assessment.
- Lesson Plan with complete instructions
- Engage Activity: Students will write a story about traveling to the moon.
- Anchor Chart: Teacher and Student versions. The teacher version is complete and you can project this on your board as you teach. The student version has missing words that each student will fill in as you teach.
-Collaborate Activity: This is a group activity where your students will work together to form a human model of the moon phases using "I Have, Who Has" cards. There are also discussion questions that they will answer as small groups, to help with their understanding (and to help them get ready for the standardized tests).
-Harness: This individual activity will allow your students to apply what they have learned by drawing/coloring the phases of the moon and making a wheel to view the moon's phases.
Success: Assess understanding by having your students take a quiz.
Also included is an answer key.
I hope you enjoy this lesson. Please leave feedback.
