Uno style card game to review moon phases and any other material for state testing. Teachers will need to have self checking Task Cards ready to add to this game.
STAAR Reporting Category 3: Pattern of Moon Phases; TEKS 4.8C; 8.7B
Learning Style: Visual
Rules of Play:
Each player is dealt 5 Moon-O cards. The remaining cards are placed face down to form a DRAW pile. The top card of the DRAW pile is turned over to begin a DISCARD pile. Player 1 has to play the card that is the next phase in the lunar cycle.
Players may play ONE other card with the phase card. If a question card is played, Player 2 must answer the question correctly before playing the next phase.
If the player doesn't have anything to match, he must pick a card from the DRAW pile. If he can play what is drawn, great. Otherwise, play moves to the next person.
When you have one card left, you must yell “MOON-O”. Failure to do this results in you having to pick two cards from the DRAW pile. That is, of course, if you get caught by the other players.
The WINNER is the first player with one card left in their hand and calls “MOON-O”.
