As children develop their sense of number in kindergarten, one of the concepts that sometimes needs reinforcement is comparing sets to find more, less and equal amounts. With my littles, I build this foundation with hands on activities followed by activities that allow for independent practice.
I created this packet to provide multiple ways for my kiddos to practice and show their knowledge of greater, fewer and equal sets. Included in this packet are activities for making comparisons, creating sets, comparing numbers and using five frames to identify and show amounts greater than 5. Specific activities are as follows:
*Comparing 3 sets to find equal sets
*Counting and creating an equal set of items
*Comparing 4 numbers and color the 2 equal numbers
*Comparing 3 sets of objects to find which is more
*Counting and creating a set of more items
*Comparing 4 numbers to find the number that is greater
*Comparing 3 sets of objects to find which is fewer
*Counting and creating a set of fewer items
*Comparing 4 numbers and color the number that is fewer
*Mixed practice to find more, less and equal amounts
*Mixed practice with numbers to find more, less and equal numbers
*Count and write number of counters in 5 frame. Circle numbers greater than 5
*Create 5 frame with amounts given. Circle numbers greater than 5.
This packet includes 13 pages that follow common core standards for counting and cardinality. Thanks so much for your interest and I hope you enjoy this packet!
