This resource has two full-color Christmas trees and sixteen colorful ornaments. Laminate and cut out for durability. Provide one activity set per set of partners to use with real dice. The partners will take turns rolling their die and placing that many ornaments on their tree. If desired, students can write their numeral with a dry eraser marker on the tree trunk. After both partners have placed their ornaments, they need to name which set is more, which set is less or if they are equal! If used as an adult run math center, whenever a group gets equal they can be given a sticker or a treat. I like to give a holiday marshmallow shaped like a tree or star if partners get equal. Additional sets can be made for small group centers.

Compare two numbers between 1 and 10 presented as written numerals.
Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group, e.g., by using matching and counting strategies.
Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
