A set of (slightly smaller than) postcard-sized cards with common te reo Māori sentences, phrases and kupu (words). Perfect for those learning te reo Māori, aimed at level 1 and 2 of the NZ curriculum or for adult learners.
These cards can be printed out and laminated double sided, with each card a different 'theme'. Themes include he tono (commands), he kararehe (animals), ngā tohutohu (actions), ngā tae (colours), kākahu (clothing), ngā mihi (greetings), kai (food), te tatau (counting), ngā āhuahanga (shapes), tōku tinana (my body), ngā paihuarere (weather), maramataka (the calendar, including days of the week, months and seasons), homai and hoatu (give to me and give to someone else), kei hea (where is), whakatītina (encouragement), and whakatakotoranga (sentence structure examples).
The cards feature the theme and common sentences on the front, while the back features common kupu (words) that relate to the theme. Please note, you will need to either print double sided, or cut and glue.
I have used them myself as a Māori learner, then within my classroom and finally with adults. At Playcentre each adult member takes a card and uses it to integrate te reo into sessions.
PDF has crop and bleed marks. Posters can be printed A4 or (how we use them) four to a page to make neat little cards. Low colour and also works printed black and white on different coloured papers to easily identify the different 'themes'.
