Greeting: Greet each other by saying ‘hello’ in another language. Ten different ways of saying ‘hello’ are in this packet. The packet includes: Spanish (Mexico), French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Russian, English (England), Portuguese (Brazilian) and Haitian (Creole)
Sharing: Students share on a topic. A few different options are included in this packet. Such as – Where is your family originally from?, If you could visit any country, where would you go?
Activity: Learn to count to ten in ten different languages. In the past, I have chosen one to repeat throughout the week so that students learn it. Students for years after would run up to me and count for me in Japanese as that’s the language I chose to teach my students.
Another activity is to read a post card from “Traveling Travis” about ten different fun places that he visits. He visits such places as the Eiffel Tower in France, the Great Wall in China, St. Petersburg in Russia, and Mayan ruins. During writing, I have students on one of the days write back to Travelling Travis.
Morning Message: This packet has ideas for how to make your morning message internationally themed.
Extra: A plane to place on the map at the place that Traveling Travis is visiting that day.
