As part of my "Morning Meeting", I allow students to submit a "morning message" writing each week, but no more than one a week. This activity is optional. I used to write a morning message everyday, but now that I give my students the opportunity to write a morning message...it saves me time and students enjoy reading morning messages written by their peers. Students love guessing the secret writer of the morning message. This also encourages students to be mindful of their writing and practice the writing skills being taught.
