When your child completes an activity in the bedtime routine, the card is flipped over (preferably by the child) to show that it is completed. This gives the child ownership of the process. You could think of it as an age appropriate "checklist" of all the activities associated with getting ready in the morning.
If you wish to place morning cards in a pocket chart, here are some options:
We suggest keeping your child’s morning routine as consistent as possible, including the time you wake up your child. Children thrive when they know what to expect. Give your child a warning if he/she needs to pick up the pace. This way your child can anticipate the conclusion of the current activity.
Repetition lets children know what to expect, which makes them feel more secure. It also provides children with the opportunity to develop independence. However, the chart is design to be able to easily switch the cards if you need an altered schedule or a condensed/extended morning routine some days. With a switch, it is important to explain the schedule change to your child.
This chart is designed to help you create a relaxing, enjoyable time for you and your child. Your child can receive 1, 2, or 3 stars each morning, reflecting how well they did completing there cards. We have included 2 variety of charts if you wish to record how many stars your child has earned. These charts can be traded in for rewards (a new book, screen time, date with mom or dad, ice cream....) or simply to be proud of his./her accomplishments.
Hope you find this chart as helpful as our little ones do. I love to get product reviews and feedback :) Please let me know how it is working or if there is an additional activity you wish I had included.
