Product Description

Start your day in kindergarten and first grade with morning tubs and let your students socialize, play and explore math skills such as 2D shapes, symmetry and spatial awareness as they ease into the day with these Geoboards Morning Tub Tasks. Using morning tubs for morning work is a great way to let you students work on important math skills in a playful way.

The goal for my morning tubs is to create activities that use common classroom manipulatives and items. They are low - prep; just print the student pages or instructions and you are ready to go.

This set contains 6 different activities to be used with Geoboards. There are detailed teacher instructions for each center.

Symmetry challenge:

• Students create the design on their geoboard and then complete the other side to create a symmetrical picture.

Make this!:

• Students make a picture on their geoboard and then count the number of a given shape they can see in the design and record it on the card.

Make and count:

• Students make the picture on their card and then record how many elastics they needed to make the picture.

Building challenge:

• Students are given a challenge to build as many of a given shape as they can on their geoboards.

Partner challenge:

• Students can work in partners for this activity. One student has the challenge card and reads each step to their partner who will follow the directions on their geoboard. After 3 steps the players will compare the directions to the geoboard to see if they followed the directions correctly. This can also be played alone with a student reading the instructions and building.

Shape seek:

• Students make the picture on their geoboard and then record the number of each shape they see in the design.
