Product Description

Start your day in kindergarten and first grade with morning tubs and let your students socialize, play and explore math skills with money as they ease into the day with these Money Morning Tub Tasks for American money and Canadian money. Using morning tubs for morning work is a great way to let you students work on important math skills in a playful way.

The goal for my morning tubs is to create activities that use common classroom manipulatives and items. In this set students work with Penny/Nickel/Dime/Quarter. They are low - prep; just print the task cards, game boards and instructions and you are ready to go.

This set contains 6 different activities to be used with either US coins or Canadian coins. There will be a set specific to Australian money coming soon. There are detailed teacher instructions for each center.

Coin-a-pillar Puzzlers:

• Students will fill the caterpillar body pieces with coins to show the amount of money. In order to complete it correctly students must use exactly that number of coins – not less or more. 30 cards

Fill the Piggy Bank:

• Students will fill each piggy bank with the coins to make that amount of money. 32 cards

Roll a Coin:

• Students will roll one die and refer to the chart to see what each number on the die is worth. They take the corresponding coin and place it on their game mat. Play continues according to the rules on each mat. Students count up the coins at the end and the student with the most money wins. 8 options to choose from

Let's Go Shopping!:

• There are 4 grocery price lists included: up to 10¢, up to 20¢, up to 50¢ and up to \$1.00 so you can provide a list that works best for your students. Students choose a shopping cart card and figure out the value of the two grocery items and place the money on the grocery counter to buy them. 16 cards

Shopping Spree:

• Student choose a grocery card and then show how they can buy that item two different ways. They place the coins for each way in the two boxes on the grocery card. 24 cards

• Students will need 1 dice. A student rolls the dice that takes that many pennies. They place them in the penny column. On their next roll they roll again and trade their pennies for a nickel if they have more than 5, likewise if they have 2 nickels they trade for 1 dime. Play continues until 1 player has 5 dimes or according to the instructions on the game board. 2 game boards to choose from
