This Morning Work resource for fifth graders is a comprehensive, unique type of morning work, because it is a full page per day (not a 1/4th of a page, not a 1/2 sheet) and it includes EVERY 5th grade Common Core standard for reading, language, and math, as well as social studies and science too!
It is a no-prep, easy to use tool for busy teachers to target common core and NGSS standards that spiral throughout the year. This morning work unit was a labor of love and includes engaging topics and a variety of formats throughout the year. It has timelines, maps, charts, fiction and informational text passages too!
There are lots of morning work packets out there with just math, or just language, or sometimes just math and language but as a teacher, I knew I wanted to have everything included in my morning work, so that’s the reason why I created this resource with not only language and math but also reading, science, and social studies.
Also, while this morning work is carefully aligned to Common Core standards, there is no notation on the worksheets to indicate that and they would work equally well for schools who are not common core.
Here’s what is included in the entire year unit:
144 worksheets and Keys
One worksheet per day for the entire year (Mon. – Thurs.)
Mondays and Wednesdays have Language, Science, and Math
Tuesdays and Thursdays have Reading, Social Studies, and Math
The 1st and 3rd Quarters Reading passages focus on Fiction standards
The 2nd and 4th Quarters Reading passages focus on Informational Text standards
Math for the entire first month is a review of 4th grade standards
Standards spiral throughout the year
Table of Contents for each quarter
I love having a year’s worth of morning work at my fingertips! These can be used as separate daily worksheets, or they can be put together into a great spiral bound book for the year or half of the year at a time. Using this type of morning work is awesome because the kids know what to expect each morning, and it makes the morning routine run more smoothly.
Another way this morning work can be used is for tutoring one on one, for homeschool, or for remediation for 6th graders who need some 5th grade review. The possibilities are endless!
