Teach morphological awareness with these hands-on morphology activities! These prefixes and suffixes cards and morphology activities provide a FUN way for your speech therapy students to visualize how words are formed! Your speech therapy students will enjoy creating words by combining prefixes and suffixes to base words with this weather themed morphology resource!
You can print and cut out the prefixes and suffixes, as well as the base word cards. These can be laminated and used over and over again. You may also wish to print and laminate the Create a Word Magnetic Wand Mats, which can be paired with a dry erase marker as well.
There are a total of 44 base word cards. The base word cards are picture-supported and provide 1 or 2 possible meanings for the base word. Don't see the base word you need? No worries! 4 open-ended cards are also provided and can be used with a dry erase marker.
16 prefix cards are included, and there are also 2 open-ended prefix cards that can be paired with a dry erase marker. That way, if you don't see the prefix you need, you can easily add it to any base word to create the word you had in mind!

Reference sheets are provided so that you don't need to think of words to create on the spot! Additionally, included base words and prefixes and suffixes are provided on a handy at-a-glance sheet.
Speech pathologists will also find the Weather Morphology Spinner incredibly useful! Address vocabulary while you work on creating words. Your speech therapy student will spin the spinner and answer questions such as,

- "Can I spell this word?"
- "Can I define this word?"
- "Can I think of a related word?"
Your student can keep track of a list of his or her created words using the My Weather Words Worksheet, and continue the practice of dividing words into units using the umbrella-themed morphology worksheet.
