1st and 2nd grade students have an opportunity for multiple studies in learning about mosaic art.
This package includes a 6 page PowerPoint that provides a background of mosaic art and its origin. Several different types of examples are displayed in the presentation and students will be able to identify and connect them in every day life, such as on the sidewalk, bathroom tiles, outdoor sculptures, etc.
To supplement learning, there is an 8-page practice booklet (8.5x11) of color sheets for different learning levels. For example, 4 of the sheets will require students to color in the mosaics already drawn inside the image. For the advanced student, only some of the mosaics are drawn in. The student will have to draw them in and color. To reiterate learning, students write the definition of mosaic art on the practice sheets. There are four different images (lamp, boat, drink w/straw and flower inside a pot).
It is a fun exercise and great to use prior to moving into a final project. On another note, the practice sheets can also be used for learning while teaching students to distinguish warm and cool colors.
The book is in PDF format and the presentation is a PowerPoint.
