After reading Richard Connell's "Most Dangerous Game," students will create a map of Ship Trap Island. Students must use close reading skills to accurately place every landmark on the island. For instance, General Zaroff's chateau cannot be placed in the middle of the island, because text evidence shows the reader that the chateau is on the coast and "three sides of it cliffs dived down to where the sea licked greedy lips in the shadows."
Includes assignment, excerpts from the short story and rubric. The rubric is designed for two formative grades: one for textual accuracy, and one for creativity.
