On September 5th, 2016 Mother Teresa of Calcutta will be canonized a saint by the Catholic church. There were two miracles attributed to Mother Teresa, both of which took place after her death.
In the latter part of 2003, she was beatified by Pope John Paul II. It was after the first miracle took place, which involved one woman from Kolkata (Calcutta, India) who claimed that after praying to Mother Teresa, she was cleared of her stomach tumor. He judged that the curing of an Indian woman suffering from an abdominal tumor was the result of the supernatural intervention of the late Mother Teresa.
Pope Francis then took the step by signing a decree declaring that the inexplicable 2008 recovery of a Brazilian man who suddenly woke from a coma caused by a viral brain infection was due to the intercession of the Albanian nun, who died in 1997.
