This template is super plain because I like to let my students have as much room for creativity as possible! You can be creative in your approach to using it, as well. Here is what I like to do with it:
I simply print the bookmarks on card stock and cut them out. Have the students decorate the fronts (markers, crayons, stickers, borders, etc.). Then, on the back, I have mine write a thoughtful note to their moms. Some like to write poems; others just do the typical note (like in a card). I make sure they sign their names at the bottom and write the year somewhere, too. Some have asked to cut the edges to make them wavy, zig-zagged, etc., which I allow, of course! After everyone is done with both sides, I get them laminated and cut them out again (a good job for that detailed-minded student-helper!). Last, to add a little cutesie to it, I punch a hole in the top to put ribbon through (you might want to tell them you are doing this before they write their notes so that they leave room for a hole at the top).
That's it! Easy peasy :)
