This close reading lesson includes a one page informational text (There are two versions included so you can differentiate the text for your students) explaining the origination of Mother's Day along with a close reading format to follow, a chart you can use with students listing ways to annotate a text, specific text-dependent questions to ask, along with suggested writing extension activities.
Note that this is a complex text for grades 1-2. Although there are two versions included, the text will be especially difficult for struggling first grade readers even though they are supported through the format of close reading. Please take a look at the text on the cover before purchasing, to make sure it's appropriate for your students.
If you purchase, please remember to earn your TpT credits, by leaving feedback. Thanks!
