This is a collection of 3 crafts / writing activities that we use in my kindergarten classroom to celebrate Mother's Day.
The first is a book. My students give it to their mothers during our Mother's Day Tea Party and they are always a hit.
Templates for a front cover, back cover, and all book pages (along with step-by-step directions) are included.
On each page, the students complete a sentence about their mom and draw a picture to go along with it.
This is a picture of my mom.
My mom likes to eat...
My mom likes to play...
My mom is good at...
My mom helps me when...
I love my mom because...
When finished, the book is tied together with a ribbon. This is a fun keepsake to send home to the moms.
The second projects contains templates for invitations my kindergartners send to their mothers for our Mother's Day Tea. They are in the shape of a flower.
The center of the flower reads "Dear Mom" and the petals read:
You Are Invited
To a Mother's Day Party
In my Classroom
On (fill in the date) at (fill in the time)
Entertainment and Refreshments Will Be Provided
The leaf reads "Love," and the child signs it with his/her name.
The mothers love getting these invitations and they make a great keepsake.
For the last craft, students use the templates to make their project - a boy or girl holding a piece of paper that reads "I love my mom because..." The students then write a paragraph about why they love their mothers (great for persuasive writing, in line with the Common Core Standards). Two types of writing paper are included to accomodate different handwriting programs (Handwriting Without Tears and Zaner-Bloser).
All templates and step-by-step directions (with pictures) for each activity are included. Please message me if you have any questions. Enjoy!
