What mother would not love a copy of her ‘best’ recipe re-written by her child?
This writing project will give your students an opportunity to practice their informational writing skills or oral re-telling skills in a fun and motivating way – contributing a recipe to a class Recipe book that can be coiled/bound and given to their mother’s on Mother’s Day.
The activity is designed to accommodate a variety of student skill levels. Students can orally tell you their Mom’s best recipe while you record their ideas. Or the students can independently write their recipe on the pages provided. I enjoy taking my students picture while wearing a chef’s hat, apron, and holding a mixing bowl. Then I add that picture to their recipe page. There is a page included in this package for that as well.
Once all recipes are written down, the book can be photocopied for each family, the front cover attached, and the recipe book coiled or bound together.
A ‘Dedication’ page is included so that your students can add a personal note to their moms. This book is sure to be cherished for a long time!
