The purpose of this file is to help students interpret the slope of the line on a position vs. time graph and velocity vs. time graph. For the position graph, students solve for the speed of an object during different line segments on a graph. Then, they solve for the slope of the line using the slope formula (change in y/change in x). Lastly, they connect the idea that the slope of the line on a position vs. time graph represents the speed. For the velocity graph, students describe velocity and calculate the acceleration rate. Then, they solve for the slope to realize that the slope of the line represents the acceleration rate. Lastly, they contrast the movement of objects on the distance graph and speed graph. There are 2 graphs, 20 questions, and a very detailed answer key to provide the support that students needs to understand the lesson.
