Use this as a fantastic cure-all for certain standards, like Motion Graphs, that students need practice with! It is a research-based way to reteach a complicated concept –one which can be presented simply, or as a difficult, 5-step process. Use one SLIDE everyday as a WarmUP for 8 days, then, students take a 10-question Quiz to see how they've done. Every SLIDE has a SELF-Reflection for the student to self-assess, led by a Response Prompt. Studies show that this Self-Reflection aids in students long-term success with a concept.
Each SLIDE points out and rewards STEPS IN THE PROCESS with a fun, bright mark-- like a happy-face, so that students begin to remember HOW to DO a MOTION Graphs problem. (1 Happy Mark for labeling what kind of graph/question word, Record what’s going on in the Graph, = 1 mark, I spell it out on every slide) At first, I thought this method silly for older kids, but it worked! They still want that happy mark -- all of them! It becomes like a competition or game. All questions are RIGOROUS and the type found on Standardized Assessments! MOST without answers. EACH SET has a 10 Question QUIZ at the END. All should be student self-assessed, so they build confidence throughout the process!
