This unit consists of 5 lessons, 5 simple labs and 5 science notebook activities to go with each lesson. The lesson, lab, and notebook activity can be done all in one day or separated into 15 days depending on how much time you have for science.
The culminating activity reflects the standard itself, an argumentative writing assignment supporting that gravitational forces exerted by earth on objects is directed down. Students may use science notebooks, other print and digital resources, and the argumentative writing rubric provided at the end of the unit.
All of the standards for New Generation Grade 5 Structures and Properties of Matter are covered (5-PS1-1 through 5-PS1-4) in the 5 sections.
