Activate the Imagination: What do the students think actually would go into the ship’s stores for a worldwide voyage? What kind of foods could be stored with no refrigeration? Tell the students about “hardtack, a biscuit that would be stored, got very hard, was filled with weevils (bugs), made soft dunking in water & then eaten, bugs & all.
