This is my major research and presentation project (+ rubric) for my unit on Che Guevara's The Motorcycle Diaries (book), which focuses on the big-picture question on "The Costs of Progress and Globalization" (see my full unit plan for details!
). The project involves students (individual or small groups) researching an indigenous people group and connecting to our unit theme by considering the effects that globalization and modernization have had on the group. And although the unit is intended for a literature classroom, I think teachers of history and sociology would find my materials quite useful. Most of the ideas and assignments would also be relevant to those who are just showing the film.
