This is a Word doc. The first two pages are reading passages on the effects of the soft drink Mountain Dew on dental enamel. The third page is the question sheet on the reading which includes the Mountain Dew website to answer questions about the nutritional contents of this beverage. The last two pages are the KEY.
The question sheet was created to be an electronic document so the students can pin the reading passage sheets on one side of their computer screen and the answer sheet on the other. I add red asterisks where the students need to answer the question. That way when the student types the answer it shows up in red. This way they can easily see that they've answered the question and you can easily grade the assignment because you're always looking for the red answer. The student's answer sheet will look a lot like your answer KEY. The student can participate in the reading and answer the questions electronically without having to print a single sheet of paper (I'm a tree hugger). The student can then drop the answer sheet only in an electronic drop box such as Black Board or Schoology.
However, this entire document can still be printed as a paper copy with little to no modification of the assignment itself. There is still room on the answer sheet to print the answers, OR. . . remove the red asterisks and add lines for students to write the answers. Gotta love Word. You can manipulate it and make it your own! Either way, this is a great assignment. I know WAY TOO MANY kids that drink Mountain Dew - FOR BREAKFAST! Ugh!
