Use this Mouse Paint themed printable to accompany your lesson on color mixing! Kids can use paint, markers, and/or crayons to make their own colorful masterpiece. :)

Lesson & Activities Suggestion:

1. Discuss the primary colors: red, yellow, and blue. As a class or in small groups, sort red, yellow, and blue objects into piles.

2. Ask students "Did you know that you can make other colors by mixing red, yellow, and blue together?"

3. Do a live demonstration of color mixing. Show the kids how red and yellow mix to make orange, yellow and blue mix to make green, and red and blue mix to make purple.

4. Read Ellen Stoll Walsh's Mouse Paint. Review what you just learned by having students predict what new color each mouse will make before flipping the page.

5. Give each child a Mouse Paint printable. Place a dot of red, blue, and yellow paint on each corner of the canvas. Give each child a sponge or cotton ball to mix the colors with.

6. Allow to dry before displaying or sending home.

The zip file includes 3 separate pdf's: one with full-sized printables, one with letter sized page handouts, and one with legal sized page handouts. Each pdf contains the colorized and black and white versions, so make sure you select the correct page in print settings before printing!
