If you have attended any Orff trainings or workshops, you might understand movement as an essential part of growth and development. These reasons range far beyond physical development, to social, emotional, and mental. With that said, I incorporate a lot of movement into my learning and plan to continue finding new ways to do so.
Movement words can be used in the process of teaching locomotor vs. nonlocomotor movement. They can be put on a wall and used for assigning compositional works (have a structure and then ask each group to use at least 3 words from the wall). Another option is using it as an aid for debriefing or for assessing. What did the other groups notice? What words from the wall would you use to describe that movement? Options are endless!
