Whether you are showing a movie to correspond with students’ reading or as part of a writing assignment (like a movie review), it’s crucial to have guided notes for your students. I have students take close reading notes while reading; I see “close reading” during a movie as the same thing. Taking notes provides students with the opportunity to notice details and aids in comprehension. These notes give students a reference when discussing the movie or writing a response to the film.
This set of notes corresponds to the film Old Yeller.
