This short movie is designed to be used by teachers in a step by step lesson to teach students to draw a simple drawing of a deer.. The teacher pauses the movie after each step to give the students time to complete it. There is no sound. The teacher may or may not choose to explain verbally as the demo is played. I have found that no verbal explanation is really needed. The teacher can read a story about Bambi to the children, then use the demo to lead the children in drawing a picture of a deer (patterned after Bambi), and then brainstorm ideas for completing the picture. The story itself is the usual source of ideas. This can be turned into a more elaborate project or simply taken home by the students after they have completed the drawing. Many like to finish the drawing at home. The value lies in the experience of looking and then drawing, and in the imaginative completion of the picture. It is a good movie for use by substitute teachers.
