This is a movie worksheet that can be used with any movie you are showing. It allows options for differentiation and student choice. It works in the same way that literature circles work, with students completing a different role each day and then meeting to discuss the film in groups at the end of the movie. This lesson aligns with Common Core Standards (CCR 7. Integrate and evaluate content presented in diverse formats and media, including visually and quantitatively, as well as in words).
Day One: Review the various roles with the students and assign them their first role. Students focus only on that particular box for the section of film you are watching that day.
Day Two: Have students move to another box. You can assign this box, have them move to the next one chronologically, or allow them to choose a box that looks interesting.
Day Three: Students choose yet another box. Continue this process for as long as needed to complete the film.
When you are finished with the film, have students move into a collaborative group to discuss the film. Use the third page of the document for students to track and reflect upon their dicussion.
Modification: If you know the movie you are showing will take only a few days, you can have students complete more than one box in a day.
