This project was created out of a dilemma that many teachers, working in an alternate setting, face: How do I meet the learning outcomes, for multiple subjects, while helping to promote student engagement? This project is my attempt to address that dilemma.
The project works like this: Students, either individually or in groups, choose a movie of personal importance that they would like to share with the class. They then go through a series of steps, all outlined in the project, to present and teach the movie to the class. Each month a different group will present their movie (I have found this to be an amazing way to add an exciting, and completely educational, routine to the classroom).
As mentioned, this project is cross-curricular in focus, it blends elements from the following subjects: English, Math, Home Economics and Planning/Lifeskills.
Included in the package: Step-by step guide for the students, all the necessary handouts and a detailed assessment guide.
