Can you believe a lot of our current high school students haven't seen The Wizard of Oz? I couldn't either when I first tried this Business unit.
Movies for Business (find many excellent resources on their website!) has a fantastic movie guide for The Wizard of Oz.
I have made this high school classroom packet with writing prompts, additional activities and a timing guide to accompany their existing guide. Hours of work for students and no prep for you!
The video clips range from 4 minutes to 20-30 minutes for each section and the class writing prompts and activities can be used for homework if you prefer.
Simply make a packet for each student at the beginning of the unit and follow along a few minutes at a time for months or whole class periods for about 1-2 weeks.
Begin the unit by completing the first writing prompts about business and leadership traits.
Watch clips from the movie in the order listed in the timing guide and have the students complete the writing prompts after each clip. Some of the sections have additional activities such as a public speaking exercise and a poster art project. Watch out for the inevitable Glinda glitter posters and enjoy!
PS: If you can't find the original guide online, let me know and I can help you out.
