Product Description

In July 1940, the Luftwaffe (German fighter planes) began three months of devastating air raids on Britain. Though the future looked grim, Prime Minister Churchill did all he could to keep British spirits high. He gave stirring speeches in Parliament and on the radio.

In 1969, The Kinks sat down and wrote Mr. Churchill Says. The song is about the struggle of World War II on the people of Great Britain. The song paraphrases parts of several of Prime Minister Winston Churchill's famous speeches. In addition to Winston Churchill, the song mentions several other political, military and popular figures who were prominent during the war.

The analysis will help students understand what Great Britain had to endure during WWII and how Winston Churchill lead them through it.
