“Mr. Peabody’s Apples” Fairness Honesty Character Ed Lesson PBIS
If you love the book, “Mr. Peabody’s Apples”, as much as I do, you are going to love this lesson. I created this lesson to discuss the character word, fairness, as well as to discuss help my students understand the importance of thinking about others as much as themselves when interacting.
This is a lesson that addresses the concepts of fairness, honesty, admitting mistakes, and thinking of others. It includes 15 slides and links to 4 videos ranging in length from 2 min and 9:00 min. This is a rich variety of concepts that all need to be taught to our students to ensure success.
One of the videos in the lesson is of the book, “Mr. Peabody’s Apples”, being read aloud. There are three other videos including one that defines the concept of fairness, a short Sesame Street video about fairness, and another video that tells the story of a young man incorporating fairness into his life and interactions with others.
I would schedule at least 30 minutes for this lesson, and it could easily take longer if you encourage discussion. This lesson is easily customizable for both primary and intermediate levels.
The PowerPoint is easily personalized and includes both animations and transitions to hold your students' interest. Make your lesson come alive for your students and help them to connect to the concept in a fun way that will help them to remember the important lessons you need for them to remember.
