In this story, Mr. Putter and Tabby become friends. This common core unit includes a rubric and 11 pages of activities in;
Phonics - short vowels. e, o, u - Students read an original text, highlight short vowel words and sort and write them into a chart.
Vocabulary - Students read Mr. Putter and Tabby Pour the Tea. They identify vocabulary words. Copy the sentences down that include each vocabulary and discuss meanings in context with their partner.
Plot - beginning / middle / end - Students read each chapter and identify important events. This activity guides students step by step through identifying the problem, in the beginning, and giving details to support the problem. They then write steps taken to try to solve the problem in the middle. For the end, students write the solution with 2 detail sentences that prove the problem was solved.
Grammar - commands and exclamations - Students read sentences, identify them as a command or exclamation, add the correct punctuation, and cut and paste them into a chart to show if they are commands, or exclamations.
Comprehension - Students answer questions in complete sentences.
Writing - Students write about things they do with a close friend.
