This activity is great for teaching students about what happens when someone hurts their feelings. There are Mr. and Ms. Crinkle. Talk to the students about how when someone says something hurtful or mean to you that it hurts on the inside. It can make you sad, mad, angry and even cry at times. No matter how many times the other person apologizes, the “crinkle” can never go away. So it is best to respect others and only say nice things to your friends.
Have your students pick out which Mr. or Ms. Crinkle they want. Have them color their crinkle person and cut it out. Have them say mean things to the crinkle person (talk about what they can say at school that is appropriate) and crinkle the paper each time something mean is said to it. After a few minutes, have the students try to get the crinkles out of their person. Show them that no matter how hard they try to get the crinkles out, it is impossible. Just like when you say something hurtful to someone. Hang these up in the classroom to remind students to respect their classmates.
