Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh is an award winning children’s novel that opens up the imagination to adventure and storytelling. This novel study engages students in this brilliant fantasy while aligning to the Common Core standards. The novel includes a table of contents, pre-reading activities, chapter reading guides, ongoing activity guides for completing throughout the book, activity guides with black line masters, culminating projects, writing activities, response journals, and more. Several Common Core standards are included such as characters, setting, and plot; problem and solution; characters responding to major events and challenges; cause and effect; beginning, middle, and end; point of view; asking questions (who, what, when, where, why, how); comparing and contrasting; narrative writing; and opinion writing (response to literature). These activities provide depth and rigor allowing students to use evidence from the texts.
