Have you seen most of the end of the year math tests? They are like these 20 pages document! Really? So, I took most the stuff my fifth graders are required to know and I put it into one page (front and back). I give this within the first week of school, half way through the year and then at the very end of the year. That is why I call it "END OF THE YEAR" test. I want the students in September to know that they are not expected to know everything on it. I tell them that I except their grade to be 0%, then 50%, then 100%. It works like a charm at the end of the year because many of my students are low achieving so this helps them see how far they have come.. and it has helped my administration and parents get on my side because they also see the improvements, not the score.
( I am little concerned my thumbnails looks crooked, even though it looks flawless when I open my file... maybe a mac to other transfer problem? email me and I can fix...)
