Originally created and used for 8th grade (both general ed. and honors) LA students. Designed to be an easy and fun introduction to Shakespeare and used with the movie ONLY. The idea was for students to hear and see the language prior to reading as there are so many negative associations with the level of difficulty in Shakespeare's plays. Unit includes question packet that goes along with the movie (Emma Thompson 1993 version), a guide that provides "real time" explanations for everything that goes on throughout the movie that are in basic, understandable terms. The third item is an activities packet and assessment essay questions that can be used after the movie and packet are complete. This has proven to be a HUGELY successful unit and students have felt confident that they can tackle all of Shakespeare after it! Set them up for success! ****Please note that there is nudity right at the beginning (just fast forward through, it's the beginning credits) and then a sexual scene midway that you can also ff through. I would suggest you watch ahead of time and note when you need to ff!
